The 2006 Season is here!
As the Boston College Eagles and the Cental Michigan Chippewas – can they still use that name? – start the 2006 college football season today, there are more questions than answers in the minds of many. It has been a pre-season filled with uncertainty and problems… no errors. Mainly errors in judgement. From coaches mishandling the selection of the starting QB to players reported to have taken excessive pay, the news has been filled with misdeeds of one sort or another. See What an ugly August.
And at last that is over. At least for the most part and with a few suspensions yet to play out, it is time to tee it up and see who has come ready to play. This year like no other on any given Saturday or Sunday or Friday or Thursday, teams which are expected to loose and by all accounts should loose will find a way to win. Those who should not get beaten, will. Who will play in the championship game is far from settled, with some naming up to sixteen teams as contenders. West Virginia has the easiest road, but it is far from easy. Ohio State, Auburn and Notre Dame will have a difficult time winning them all and if any of them should, then a right to compete for the title they will have earned. But will they receive it?
