Oh, if only Stanford had held on for just a couple more minutes. But it was not to be and a very fine 10-1 team will have to take a backseat to the Irish. Who did they beat with a winning record? Navy and BYU. Oh, yes, Michigan too.
Now if only UCLA and Colorado could throw some water on the overheated offences from USC and Texas, then we would have some controversy. Add Florida State to the mix and there would be one half of the BCS with four losses EACH. My bet is Texas or USC would still be in Pasadena and there’s a possibility they would meet regardless of the outcomes this week.
It will take one or two of these unlikely upsets to keep the Irish out of the BCS and that still leaves Oregon heading to the Holiday Bowl.
