BCS to add 5th game for 2006 Season?
The Associated Press reports that the Bowl Championship Series agreed to add a fifth game increasing the odds for schools outside the major conferences — ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10 and SEC — will find themselves rewarded with a BCS bid and the financial gains that come with it. The winners of these six conferences will retain automatic BCS berths under this revised format.
The additional game must still pass final approval, but that appears likely and all indications point to the additional game being added when the BCS contract is renewed for the 2006 season.
